Babri Verdict-The Aftermath...

   By Raj Mohan

Democracy is the rule of the majority, by the majority and for the majority. And that may be considered as the biggest loophole of democracy. And,moreover having this rule  working in sync with the judgment is more vital.

The so-called secularist, optimist and my atheist friends says that India has changed a lot. Obviously, India has changed a lot in the past 60 years unless/if my memory  supports the basic facts.

1.       First, in 1947, when we witnessed the partition of our country and the death of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathu Ram Godse.
2.       Operation Blue Star ,where we saw the widespread  anti-Sikh riots.
3.       During the Mandal-Kamandal politics of 90’s and the rise of most  fundamentalist party of India - the BJP as the strongest opposition.
4.       Lastly, during the period of IT rise under the pretext of globalization and liberalization, we have seen  Godhra and that also in the most prosperous state - Gujarat.

And, we show off that “we” Indian people have become matured enough? Let’s hope no more Godhras in the land of Ram, Allah, Guru Nanak, Christ etc.

Not, from the pessimist point of view, but, I know, these things are going to happen in India again and again, where still 60% people are below the poverty line, and elections are the only basic means when they can get proper food for the stipulated time period. Taking the name of Ram, Allah at night or just by drinking water can only pacify their hunger when their stomach demands for it?

Aren’t we expecting more from them? Expectations are followed by demand and which is not our legal right. During the last 50 years, it has been seen here that Indian majority and their faith and belief always goes with the Ram Lalla. Their faith and belief can be best seen during the ongoing Durga Mahotsava. It is the faith and belief only which has attracted millions of Muslims brothers to the Mecca and lakhs of Hindu pilgrims to the Kailash Mansarovar. It is the faith and belief only which has changed the name of Bombay into Mumbai, Madras into Chennai, and Calcutta into Kolkata. If a single judgment can pacify the hearts of 80% Indian population, then let the faith and belief be restored.

What about the questions of historians? Does it validate? They have written many things and given many findings about Gandhiji? It is the faith and belief only which has made him Mahatma for the older people and  ”Bapu” in the eyes of kids. 'Let faith and belief be restored'.

Moreover, how many corrections are we going to do? The Constitution of India shows the map of India in the most potential way by just hiding the basic facts from its Indian Nationals. What about the Aksai Chin (part under the Chinese control) and the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK).The Indian constitution doesn’t allow the foreign nationals without a valid passport. What about the migrant Bangladeshis in W. Bengal? There are many facts which have been suppressed. Indian Constitution is not only made to provide the truth, but to run the country in a peaceful and consistent manner. Statistics and examples are really confusing in determining the minds of people.

BJP has swept all the seven Municipal Corporation seats. This cannot be linked directly to the Godhra case as the same BJP has lost in UP-Assembly Election three years back from where the fire of Ayodhya erupted?

We are blaming only politics and the political people? What our conscience doing? The sentiments of the Indian educated class is very much dynamic. They are not bothered about the Afzal Guru case, and for why? Simply because it’s directly associated with the sentiments of the Kashmir valley. What about the adivasis of Chhattisgarh, and the Christian minority in Orrisa? What about the facts and evidence? And what about the faith and belief? Facts and evidence are succumbing to faith and belief for the betterment of society.

India has not yet matured enough. What can we expect better from the Indian population? She is not yet prepared for the ”VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM”.
